(1) The information material available for each module consists of three pieces:
- Abstract
The abstract gives an overview of the entire module (e.g. overall teaching aim, competences, specific learning arrangements, time requirements). [display visual] - Learning arrangement
There are 2 - 5 learning arrangements (LA's) per module. The document "Learning arrangement" provides an overview of the intended teaching and learning process (e.g. the activities teachers/trainers and students/trainees are expected to engage in and their timing, or the products students/trainees should develop). [display visual] - Teaching material
The teaching material serves to inform the students and specifies the tasks they have to complete by way of information and worksheets. It also includes texts, sample letters, etc. - Solutions for tasks and assignments
For some of the teaching materials the project developed hints and solutions for teachers. You will find this information on the web, if you register yourself as a teacher.
(2) The portfolio
- As a portfolio tells the story of the learning process of a person it will be developed during the learning process of one or more modules. In this way the decision for the portfolio approach has some advantages. The lifelong learning process can be integrated, because new competences can always be added to the portfolio. Moreover, self-assessment-documents and reports from an informal learning process may be considered as well. The owner of the portfolio has the responsibility to maintain the content.
- connect modules and learning arrangements are equipped with a variety of proposals for the assessment on the school's level. Every user/teacher may select the products according to the requirements of the country, the group of learners and the time available. The teacher can add as well other methods of assessment e.g. classroom-tests. In any case it shall be clear for the students in advance, what kind of work is expected for the assessment of their work.
- Users may not cover all modules in the course or during their formal education. Therefore the possibility is offered to continue with one or the other module after finalisation of the formal education or beside the formal education on a voluntary basis. Most of the modules are individualised and can be done alone, only with an input at the beginning of the learning process.
- The connect portfolio contains the following parts:
- Competence-levels (module-wise) as standards which could be achieved
- Assessment record including the evidence about the work undertaken during the teaching process (e.g. reports, presentations, evaluation by teachers/trainers, self-evaluation).
- After the assessment of student’s performance by the teacher or trainer the student may be entitled to get a certificate. Keeping in mind the portfolio approach, the project provides modulewise samples of certificates.
